This past weekend I enjoyed myself more than I have in a LONG while. I was able to attend an event all three days. And nothing excites me more than playing dress up and figuring out what to wear to these events. 😉
My weekend kicked off with the “Networking & Nosh” event presented by FGI-Detroit. FGI-Detroit is an international non-profit of fashion professionals. I’ve heard alot of great things about them, so I was really eager to be able to meet and network with its board and general members. The event was held at a really posh restaurant in downtown Birmingham called Mad Hatter. I always used to walk past it when I worked in Birmingham, so naturally I was really excited that I finally got an opportunity to actually eat there. It’s really the cutest restaurant ever, based off the Disney story of Alice in Wonderland.
I’m really, really happy I ended up going. The board members were super inviting, and the org seems to be a really great fit with my brand and the direction I am heading towards. Stay tuned.

My next stop on Saturday was to see the Alvin Ailey performers. They astound me every season, and this was no exception. I really don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said about them….they are just breathtaking. I even got a once in a lifetime chance to attend the afterglow and hang with dancers after their performance. SO COOL!
I did manage to take a quick selfie before I headed out for the night…

Lastly, with the beginning of Detroit Tech Week, I attended a brunch called Blog Like A Boss on Sunday. There was a panel of four bloggers that gave great tips on how to conquer the blogging world.
Their blogging tips were superb….as were the make-your-own-mimosas! 😉
