March Madness!

Normally when people think of march madness, they think of college basketball.  But what march madness means to me is a 31 day celebration of my birth month!  I love celebrating my birthday; it’s my favorite holiday.  It’s my time to reflect over the past year and then to plan and prepare for the 365 days ahead.  But more importantly…. IT’S TIME TO BE FLY! 😀  I love putting together birthday looks.  It’s like my own little fashion month. 🙂

As I get older, I try more and more to venture outside of my comfort zone.  One of the ways I try to do this is by crossing things off of my bucket list.  My most recent adventure was attending my first opera.  I am such a huge fan of theatre.  I attend musicals frequently, so it seems the opera would be a natural progression.  My opera of choice was Frida.  Now, I’m not going to lie, I had never heard of Frida until Beyoncé dressed up as her this past Halloween.  Beyoncé is a very artistic and creative person, so I knew that by her dressing up as Frida for Halloween, she admired and felt connected with her.  And quite frankly, if it’s good enough for Bey, it’s good enough for me.  😉  I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the production.  Like musicals, it was very visually appealing.  The stage, props, and costumes were vibrant and exciting.  I thought that it would be hard to keep up with the storyline because of all the singing, but there were subtitles that made it so much easier.  All in all, this was such a great and memorable performance, and this will definitely not be the only opera I attend! 🙂

As I said before, it’s March Madness so I want to go that extra mile in my looks.  I like tutus, but sometimes I feel as if they come off being childlike.  But this GoJane tulle skirt is the perfect mix of femininity and fairytale.  To me it’s very playful yet sophisticated; the perfect dramatic piece for the opera!  I love to wear bodysuits with skirts, and this mesh long sleeve one is a perfect match with the tulle of the skirt.  My slingback pumps finished this all black look.
